Average wage surpasses 30.000 CZK limit for the first time

According to the results published by the Czech Statistical Office, the average gross monthly wage was increased by 8% during the last quarter of 2017 and reached the amount of 31.646 CZK. Thanks to the fact that unemployment is at its historical lowest, wages are growing faster, which leads to the growth of average monthly wage. Real wages have increased slightly less, only 5,3%. This leads to constant increase of consumer prices (inflation) by 2,6%. The most significant increase in wages happened in the public sector where wage rates grew by 10,5%, in education by 9%, and in the health and social services sector by 10,8%. No sector has experienced a decrease of the average wage. The slightest increase of wages, by 4,5%, has been noted in the finance and insurance sector. Among the regions, the most significant growth has been noted in the Karlovy Vary region (9,3%) and the Zlín region (9%). On the other hand, wage growth in the capital has been the lowest with its 6,6%.
