Amendment to the Act on Accounting, Auditors and Additional Taxes published in the Collection of Laws

Audit of financial statements

On 2 September 2025, Act No. 316/2025 was promulgated in the Collection of Laws, which contains the changes that were adopted (and have been discussed for some time) as part of the amendment of the laws:

  • No. 563/1991 Coll. on Accounting (“AA”)
  • No. 93/2009 Coll., on auditors (“AoA”)
  • No. 416/2023 Coll., on top-up taxes for large multinational groups and large domestic groups (“AoTT”)

The main changes consist in the change (increase) of the limits of the sum of assets and turnover in the framework of the categorization of accounting entities and the subsequent change in the abolition of the obligation to audit financial statements for small enterprises. Only large and medium-sized entities will now be subject to mandatory audits. Another significant change is the update of obligations in the context of ESG reporting and its related verification by the auditor.

The effective date of the amendments is from 1 January 2026, with each amendment containing transitional provisions that must be applied.
