At the beginning of February, entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized enterprises outside Prague will again have the opportunity to obtain a soft loan of up to CZK 100 million to finance a wide range of investment projects and develop their business activities.
On 15 January, a call for applications was announced for the Expansion – Interest-Free Loan program, which can be used to purchase machinery, production lines, technology, storage facilities, and software. The soft loan can be used to finance up to 50% of eligible project costs. One of the key conditions for obtaining it is co-financing of the project by a contractual partner of the National Development Bank (NRB) in the amount of at least 20% of eligible expenses. The list of partners is still under preparation.
The programme is particularly attractive because it provides favourable financing for smaller and larger investment and innovation projects. Thanks to this program, it is possible to develop business in a wide range of fields in the long term, reduce financing costs through interest-free loans, and defer repayment until the investment begins to generate returns (up to 3 years).
“Today, this is practically the only way to obtain support for business investments without fundamentally restrictive conditions and other requirements, such as a link to research and development,” said Ondřej Miffek, subsidy expert at Grant Thornton.
He also added that the call is not competitive. “So, it is not necessary to obtain a certain number of points in the evaluation. It can be said that if the eligibility, formalities and credit criteria are met, obtaining support is more or less certain.”
