Under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the second seminar in a series of seminars on 5G technology took place on 14 May 2025, this time on the topic of “5G for the digital transformation of companies”. At the workshop, mainly topics such as increasing operational efficiency using 5G technology and building private 5G networks, network slicing, the Internet of Things (IoT) and the concept of the digital twin were discussed. These topics were presented in the context of the digital transformation of companies and focused mainly on the demonstration of specific applications of these technologies in the world and in the Czech Republic.
Grant Thornton, as the contractor of the study, was represented at the seminar by Zbyněk Bolcek, senior partner of Grant Thornton Advisory, Jiří Čepica, head of the Digitalization team, and David Spies, author of the studies. Representatives of many Czech and foreign companies and organizations with practical experience in this area, such as PONEC, Inovec.Tech, T-Mobile, Vodafone, BaseN and Thein Digital, spoke at the workshops.
“The workshop showed the power of innovation – we presented specific digitization solutions that build on the projects of the studies from the National Recovery Plan under the auspices of the MoIT, which will have a real impact on Czech business in the coming years. The strong interest of the participants confirmed that companies want and need to digitalize and especially perceive a significant potential with this next step of development, and we are ready to stand by them on this path,” said Jiří Čepica.
The development of 5G communication technology in various economic sectors in the Czech Republic is one of the declared priorities of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. In this context, the National Recovery Plan included a reform that led to the development of studies and the implementation of a series of workshops on topics related to this technology, such as issues related to the use of 5G technology for the digitalization of enterprises, the use of communication infrastructure using the 5G standard for rail transport (FRMSC technology), crisis management and national security (PPDR) or the dissemination of linear television content (5G Broadcast), frequency and security aspects of the use of 5G technology, etc.
