Number of Unreliable Taxpayers Growing

Tax & Accounting

The number of unreliable taxpayers of VAT continues to grow. At the moment (the end of April 2017), 9026 of them are recorded in the register. Research shows that 46 % of unreliable taxpayers reside in Prague, the second place with the largest number of unreliable taxpayers is the South Moravian region with its 1342 unreliable taxpayers. On the other hand, the smallest number of them (“only” 58) is found in South Bohemia. When considering the size of the companies, the group with the highest number of unreliable taxpayers is that of companies whose sales are less than 10 million CZK. This category has had the most additions in April 2017, that is 209 companies, which is 60 % of all the additions that happened in April.

In the following few weeks the register will start seeing the so-called unreliable persons (both natural persons and legal persons) as well. These do not necessarily need to be VAT taxpayers but they have not fulfilled their duties towards the financial administration with some serious consequences. The financial administration will be publishing a remote access blacklist of unreliable persons. Similarly to the case of unreliable taxpayers, upon trade with a person about which it is known in the moment of the chargeable event that the person is unreliable, a tax guarantee will be necessary.
