Grant Thornton Appraisal is celebrating 20 years in the market. Since 2006, the firm has specialized in business valuation and expert reporting, building a commanding market presence, a deep pool of technical expertise, and extensive experience with projects across both the private and public sectors.
“Over the past twenty years, we have grown from a modest team into one of the most prominent expert institutes on the Czech market. Step by step, we have expanded not only our team, but also our scope of services, valuation types, and domain expertise offered to clients,” says František Poborský, Managing Partner at Grant Thornton Appraisal.
Today, the Appraisal team comprises more than 35 specialists focused on economic valuations and expert assessments, annually delivering over 500 expert reports covering assets valued in the hundreds of billions of CZK. The team is capable of valuing virtually any asset type. Its portfolio includes the valuation of businesses and business divisions, real estate, tangible and intangible assets, securities, and receivables, as well as the quantification of damages, lost profits, and specialized economic analyses.
Everything has a price. What sounds simple on the surface is, in reality, a complex procedure. Value is always dictated by the specific asset, the purpose of the valuation, and—above all—the context in which it is determined. That is precisely why valuation offers no “step-by-step template” applicable to every case.
“For us, valuation has never been just about plugging numbers into a financial model. The key is understanding what we are actually valuing, why we are valuing it, and which nuances can fundamentally impact the final figure. Experience, professional judgment, and the ability to connect the dots are what distinguish a high-quality valuation from a mere calculation,” Poborský adds.
The team’s expertise extends far beyond client engagements. Its members have long been involved in academia, scholarly publishing, and the advancement of valuation methodologies. They lecture at leading universities—including the Prague University of Economics and Business (VŠE), the Czech Technical University in Prague (ČVUT), and the Brno University of Technology (VUT)—and actively contribute to professional discussions on valuation standards and expert practices across the Czech Republic.
“Twenty years is not just an anniversary for us. Above all, it represents a body of experience we can draw on for every upcoming project. We extend our sincere thanks to all our clients, partners, and colleagues who have been—and continue to be—an integral part of our journey,” concludes František Poborský.
It’s worth it!
